Straightening
During the quick change in temperature from the heating and quenching process, a lot of mechanical deformation and stresses can manifest itself on the parts, which often warp beyond acceptable tolerances with respect to straightness, flatness and contour. Therefore, straightening services become necessary to bring parts back within acceptable ranges.
NHT performs all work in-house and can hold tolerance to parts as tight as .005". Our Check and Straighten personnel are well-trained experts who can straighten almost anything. They have many years of experience and are exceptional at their craft.
Once the work is performed and requirements verified, the parts go to the next stage of processing, which normally is age hardening. Also, known as ‘precipitation hardening’, age hardening is a low temperature heat treating process to increase the strength and mechanical properties of many aluminum alloys.
