Newton is the only heat treater to
invest in x-ray stress analysis equipment. This space-age
system measures stress through the x-ray diffraction
method from start to finish. It is fast, flexible,
and extremely thorough, and it is another exclusive
assurance of quality you get only through Newton Heat
Treating.
X-RAY STRESS MEASUREMENTS
· Provide the ability to decide which parts
will require a suitable percentage of glycol to prevent
distortion.
· Allow one to measure internal stress of previously
processed parts to evaluate if further processing,
using glycol quenching, can reduce stress enough to
salvage parts.
· Pin point stress areas in poorly designed
parts allowing for design changes.
·
Allow engineers to read the tension spread
in metals.
·
Measure compressive stresses induced by shot
peening on actual parts, in lieu of almond strips.
·
Check for retained Austenite in steel.
One question you should ask yourself is how a complex
operation like cold stabilization can be assured without
some sort of "in house" inspection after
that process has been done. At Newton, x-ray diffraction
is utilized before and after cold stabilization so
each batch of parts processed has a non-destructive
quality control operation to ensure a virtually stress
free part every time! Would you accept a heat treated
part without electrical conductivity or hardness testing?
The answer is obvious, so to insure a stable part
every time use Newton for your stress reduction operations.
