Our Heat Treating department is what makes
this company. When the Heat Treat department receives parts
from Receiving Inspection, they gather all material necessary
to rack a basket. Parts are racked on the baskets evenly
spaced so that the air flow in the furnaces is not compromised.
After all of the parts are racked, a digital photograph
is taken of each individual part number for racking verification.
The next step is to insert the racked baskets into the furnaces.
Quality Control continuously monitors all jobs in process
by checking the temperature strip charts every hour. In
addition, a multipoint data-logger prints the furnaces temperature
every 5 minutes, and saves the data to a disk every 5 minutes
as well. If something were to go wrong (such as a burner
going out), our Quality Control department would catch the
error in a short period of time. In addition, our furnaces
are equipped with alarms. When temperatures drop below acceptable
range, the alarm will sound.
After the necessary soak time has been accomplished, the
parts are quenched. We have 4 primary methods of quenching
from air furnaces. They are: Glycol, Cold Water, Hot Water,
and Spray. Our Salt bath has 3 primary ways of quenching,
which are: Cold Water, Hot Water, and Boiling Water. The
parts stay sitting in the quenchant until all necessary
heat is extracted from the parts. At that point the parts
are rinsed, dried, and transferred to the next stage of
processing.
